Talk to Strangers Online — Free Video Chat on Fling

There's something honest about a conversation with someone you've never met and may never meet again. No history, no expectations — just two people who pressed the same button at the same moment. Fling is a free, browser-based way to talk to strangers over video, one person at a time. There's nothing to download and no account to create. You open the page, allow your camera, and you're matched with another real person somewhere in the world.

Talk to strangers instantly over video — free

Fling pairs you with one stranger at a time for a live video conversation. Matching is fast: when you start, you join a queue, and the moment another person is available you're connected. If the chat isn't for you, pressing Next ends it and drops you straight back into the queue for the next match. Pressing Stop returns you to idle so you can step away or change your settings.

Everything happens in your browser. There's no app to install, and you don't need to register, verify an email, or hand over a profile. Because there are no accounts to maintain, there's also no friends list, no follower count, and no feed. Fling is built for the live moment, not for collecting people.

Free means free here. We don't gate matching behind a subscription, and we don't charge you to skip to the next person. The experience you get on your first visit is the full experience.

How random matching connects you with new people

Under the hood, Fling uses peer-to-peer WebRTC, the same real-time technology that powers video calls across the modern web. Once you're matched, the audio and video travel directly between you and the other person's browser wherever possible. A small signaling server introduces the two of you and helps your browsers find each other, but it isn't sitting in the middle of your conversation as a recorder.

That last point matters, so we'll be blunt about it: Fling does not record your calls. There's no archive of your video, no saved transcript of what you said, and no replay button for anyone, including us. When you and your partner disconnect, the live stream is simply gone. The only things that persist are the safety records described below, and those exist specifically to protect people from abuse.

Matching is genuinely random by default. You're not fed a curated lineup or nudged toward recommended users — the next person is just the next person who happens to be looking for a chat at the same time as you. That randomness is the entire point.

Stranger chat, done safely: 18+, reporting, and moderation

Talking to strangers shouldn't mean abandoning your sense of safety, so Fling is an adults-only service. Before your camera ever turns on, you pass a gate that asks you to confirm you're 18 or older and to agree to a short code of conduct.

If a conversation goes wrong, you have a way to act. A report control lets you flag a partner — and because Fling keeps a short, on-device history of your recent matches with snapshots, you can report someone even after they've skipped you or you've moved on. Reports go to a moderation system that's reviewed, and confirmed abuse leads to bans that persist; a banned user doesn't simply reconnect by refreshing the page.

Fling also runs automated, on-device checks that look for explicit video and abusive language and quietly flag sessions for review. These run in your own browser rather than on a server watching your feed, which keeps the no-recording promise intact while still catching the worst behavior. You can read exactly what is and isn't allowed on our community rules page, and how we think about safety overall on the safety page.

Optional country filter — shape who you meet

Random doesn't have to mean completely unguided. Fling offers an optional country filter so you can shape who you meet without losing the spontaneity. At the gate you can choose to match with people from a particular country, or with anyone in the world.

The filter is best-effort. Because a country preference narrows the pool of available people, a more specific filter can mean a longer wait between matches, and the most reliable way to meet someone quickly is to leave it open. During a chat, the header shows your partner's country, so you have a little context about who you're talking to.

The filter is there if you want it and ignorable if you don't. Leave it on anyone and Fling behaves like classic random chat; set a country when you're in the mood for something more specific.

Text and video — what to expect on Fling

Fling is a video-first experience. The heart of it is seeing and hearing a real person in real time, and a short text chat lives alongside the video for sharing a name, a link, or a quick line when speaking out loud is awkward. The controls are intentionally minimal: Next to move on, Stop to bow out.

You'll need a working camera and microphone and a browser that supports modern video calling, which today means most up-to-date browsers on desktop and mobile. Your own video appears as a small mirrored preview so you can see what your partner sees. If you want to understand the thinking behind how we built it, our story is on the about page, and the reasoning behind our privacy-first approach is in our why Fling explainer.

Frequently asked questions

Is talking to strangers on Fling really free?
Yes. Random matching, video, text, and skipping to the next person are all free, with no subscription and no per-skip charge. You don't need to create an account or sign in to use it — signing in is optional, not required.
Do I need to download an app or sign up?
No. Fling runs entirely in your web browser. There's nothing to install and no registration step. You open the site, confirm you're 18 or older, allow camera and microphone access, and you're matched.
Does Fling record my video chats?
No. Calls are not recorded. Video and audio flow peer-to-peer between browsers, and when a chat ends the live stream is gone — there's no archive, transcript, or replay for anyone, including us. The only data we keep relates to safety and moderation.
How do you keep stranger chat safe?
Fling is strictly 18+, with an age and conduct gate before your camera turns on. You can report a partner — including recent partners who already skipped you — and confirmed abuse leads to bans that persist across reconnects. On-device checks also flag explicit video and abusive language for review without recording your feed.
Can I choose who I talk to?
To a degree. Matching is random by default, but you can optionally filter by country at the gate. The filter is best-effort, so narrowing it can mean longer waits between matches. Leaving it open is the fastest way to meet new people.
